Arcadia Aviation provides premium services to the rapidly growing fleet of corporate and private jet aircraft servicing the Eastern Region of the United States.
The combined increase in the number and utilization of jet aircraft has taxed existing general aviation facilities. While the impact of this growth is being felt across the entire national airport infrastructure, it is particularly acute at hub airports like Washington DC’s Dulles International, New York’s Teterboro and other airports located near the nation’s major metropolitan markets.
Private aircraft owners and corporate fleet operators who base their aircraft at these major metropolitan airports compete for space and attention with transient aircraft. High levels of transient activity have contributed to crowded airspace, ramp congestion, service delays and cost escalations at these locations.
Driven in equal part by the growing congestion, lack of available space and the prohibitively high costs of fuel, hangar rent and other services, tenant operators based at primary major market airports are beginning to move their aircraft to “reliever” airports to take advantage of their cheaper fuel, greater availability of hangar storage and better service.
Arcadia Aviation was founded to provide these tenant operators individuals and corporations, managed aircraft customers and corporate flight departments – with an alternative that offers a scope of benefits that we believe is unique in the industry:
Rob Garrett oversees the overall management of Arcadia Aviation, the sales and marketing of new corporate hangars and Arcadia Aviation's acquisitions of new facilities. Previously, Garrett managed the operational turnaround of The Excel Group, a $30 million consumer products' company, on behalf of a private equity firm. During his tenure he refocused the business around a core profitable customer base, established Wal*Mart as a top 3 customer and rebuilt the senior team by hiring well-respected sales and marketing professionals from throughout the industry. Prior to Excel, Garrett worked for Sony Corporation where he was the senior financial executive of a joint venture between Sony Corporation of America and Sony Pictures. He has also worked for Scripps-Howard. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Business School, and has been a private pilot since 1997.
Brinson oversees both the operations of Arcadia Aviation's FBO and the construction of the company's new hangars. Brinson has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of the general aviation industry. For much of his career, he worked for Landmark Aviation (formerly Piedmont-Hawthorne). During his tenure there, he spearheaded the design, construction, staffing and management of Piedmont's Dulles (IAD) FBO - which grew to be the most profitable property in the company - before becoming the regional manager with ultimate responsibility over five of the largest and most profitable FBOs in the country. Additionally, his experience includes overseeing Part 141 maintenance and Part 135 air charter operations, hangar construction, fuel farm design, aircraft sales, the negotiation of dealer supply contracts, and the development of creative fuel management strategies that maximize bottom line performance. Brinson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, and a commercial pilot with 9,500 hours under his belt.
George Smith has over 40 years experience in general and commercial aviation. Through the early 1990s, he managed the flight departments for: A.M.F., Inc., Barnes & Noble, and Litton Industries. In Spain, he started Roca Industries Corporate Flight Department. In the mid-1990s, Smith founded Aero Smith Inc., an FBO operator with locations in Hagerstown, MD and Martinsburg, WV. Smith began his career as a member of an antisubmarine task force in the U.S. Navy that was based on the U.S.S. Intrepid. Additionally, he has flown as a commercial pilot for Allegheny Airlines.
